The fall meeting of the Minnesota Area Association of Physics Teachers will be held on October 24 and 25 at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota. While the program is still being assembled, we do know that the keynote speaker will be Dr. Leon Lederman, Pritzker Professor of Science at Illinois Institute of Technology and Director Emeritus of Fermilab National Laboratory. Dr. Lederman received the 1988 Nobel Prize for Physics along with Melvin Schwartz and Jack Steinberger for the neutrino beam method and the demonstration of the doublet structure of the leptons through the discovery of the muon neutrino. He will speak at 7:30 pm on Friday, October 24, on "Why Build an 8 Billion Dollar Accelerator (the LHC)?" On Saturday, October 25 (time TBA), he will speak about "Physics First," the movement that seeks to rearrange the current high school science curriculum so that physics precedes chemistry and biology.

Further announcements, with a more complete agenda, will follow as the schedule of workshops and talks becomes known. These announcements will also include locations, maps, and other details for the meeting. Please mark your calendar and consider joining us.
